This is the first installment in our 2026 Micro-Wedding Venue Series, and we’re starting exactly where we love to start: our favorite bougie micro-wedding venues in New York City, including private dining rooms in our favorite restaurants and unique penthouse spaces in our favorite hotels.
Planning a micro-wedding in New York City can feel equal parts exciting and overwhelming. There are incredible venues everywhere, but very little honest guidance about which ones actually work for intimate weddings, how guest count changes your options, or what’s realistic once contracts, food-and-beverage minimums, and logistics enter the picture. We wrote this guide for couples planning a 10–40 person micro-wedding in NYC who care deeply about atmosphere, food, and experience — and who don’t want a generic venue list pulled from the internet. This article is a planner-curated look at micro-wedding venues we’ve worked with firsthand.
Let’s get into it.
New York City is one of the most exciting places in the world to plan a micro wedding. Whether you’re imagining an intimate celebration with your closest people or a chic dinner party that transitions into dancing, NYC restaurants and private dining rooms offer unparalleled culinary experiences with highly personalized service.
Before booking, it’s important to understand how guest count affects venue choice, vibe, and logistics—especially when food-and-beverage minimums are involved.
From legendary chef Daniel Boulud, Le Tête d’Or is a French steakhouse that strikes a rare balance of relaxed yet refined. Rich wood tones, soft golden light, and a subtle Parisian–New York vibe make the space feel intimate and elegant.
It also holds a special place in our hearts: Eloping Is Fun hosted the very first official wedding ever held here, and it truly set the tone for what weddings focused on a high-end dining experience can be.
The Salon, a fully private room just off the main dining area, can host both your ceremony and seated dinner in one. It feels warm and personal. Guests arrive, gather, witness the ceremony, and settle into dinner without any logistical friction.
For couples who want more ambient energy, there’s also the option to celebrate at a table in the main dining room, surrounded by the buzz of the restaurant while still feeling entirely your own.
Le Bernardin doesn’t really need an introduction, but we’ll add one anyway.
It’s long been a favorite of Eloping Is Fun couples, and we’ve worked here many times. You’re in the hands of a team that knows exactly how to create a once-in-a-lifetime evening without a spectacle. For food-driven couples who value mastery, presence, and excellence, this is as good as it gets.
One of my favorite New York moments is that Chef Eric Ripert and I share the same Tibetan Buddhist teacher. This is just one example of those micro-connections that make this city what it is.
Tucked into a historic old-world building in Lower Manhattan, the venues at 60 Pine Street feel like a love letter to a quieter, more refined version of New York.
Overstory is one of those places we almost hesitate to talk about, because part of its magic is that it doesn’t appear on every Instagram roundup. It’s discreet, elegant, and completely stunning. There’s a massive wraparound deck, craft cocktails that are truly exceptional, and panoramic views. Stepping out onto the private open-air terrace 60 stories above the city, especially after an espresso martini, is as real as it gets.
Danny Meyer’s Gramercy Tavern is a cornerstone of modern New York hospitality, and it shows in every interaction. The food is seasonal and soulful, the service is kind without being stiff. It’s a beautiful choice for couples who want their wedding to feel like the best dinner party they’ve ever hosted.
Lucien is more on the Bohemian tip, but thought it was worth adding. It is pure New York mythology. Opened in the late ’90s, this East Village French bistro has hosted artists, writers, fashion insiders, and people-watchers for decades. Bella Hadid, Chloë Sevigny, Ryan Gosling, Daniel Radcliffe, and Lady Gaga are all regulars. I eat here at least once a week, and every time I’m reminded why it’s enduring.
Both The William Vale and Wythe Hotel offer penthouse-level spaces with sweeping skyline views that constantly remind you that “yes, darling… you are indeed getting married in New York friggen City.”
The William Vale leans design-forward and modern, while the Wythe has more of that raw, industrial Brooklyn soul. Both offer in-house catering and experienced teams who know how to pace a smaller guest list so the night unfolds naturally.
We love the crew at the Hotel Chelsea. Beyond the cozy, eclectic rooms and wildly cool interiors, this building carries serious creative gravity. For over a century, it’s been a magnet for artists, writers, musicians, and rebels — people who were never interested in doing things the traditional way. That energy is still very much alive here.
We’ve worked with the Chelsea on elopements and micro-weddings, and they truly understand intimacy. There’s a thoughtful range of spaces: some ideal for a candlelit dinner with 12 guests, and others that can comfortably host up to 60 while still keeping the vibe super cozy and intimate.

A micro-wedding is typically defined as a celebration with 10–40 guests. In NYC, each of these sizes opens up very different venue options.
At this size, things can be incredibly simple in the best way. Many couples choose to book a table for ten at a great restaurant and let the night unfold naturally. No private room, no production, just excellent food, conversation, and the people who matter most.
This works beautifully if you want your wedding to feel like an elevated dinner party rather than an event.
Once you reach 20–30 guests, private and semi-private dining rooms become ideal. These spaces offer structure, dedicated service, and room for florals and toasts while still feeling relaxed and social.
Around 40 guests, things start to feel like a mini reception. Many venues offer spaces that function like standalone rooms, sometimes with cocktail areas or room for music.
Most NYC restaurants work with food-and-beverage minimums rather than rental fees. That minimum depends on the day of the week and seasonality.
Chef-driven tasting experiences are often priced per person, while private rooms usually require a combined minimum. Full and partial buyouts come with higher minimums since the restaurant is closed to the public.
Some restaurants also charge additional fees for setup time. Many allow outside florists or designers, but it’s always important to review contracts carefully.
Some of our favorite weddings have followed a hybrid approach: a meaningful dinner with your closest people, followed by something a little more unconventional. We’ve helped couples host late-night bar buyouts, take over private karaoke rooms, and create custom bar-hopping maps in the Lower East Side, where different groups roam and keep “running into” each other scavenger-hunt style.
Deluxe Micro-Wedding Planning is full-service planning for couples who want an intimate New York City wedding without having to learn an entirely new industry overnight. It’s for couples who don’t want to chase venues, decode contracts, or negotiate decisions they’ve never made before.
After booking, we start with a deep planning consult to understand your priorities, guest dynamics, and overall vision. From there, we handle the work: researching and contacting venues, reading between the lines of contracts, flagging hidden fees, negotiating where possible, and offering honest reality checks before you emotionally commit to something that won’t work.
We manage permits, vendor coordination, timelines, transportation, guest logistics, and day-of flow. You’re not stuck emailing ten restaurants or second-guessing fine print. You’re making confident decisions because the groundwork has already been done.
On your wedding day, the planning shows. You have an on-site planner guiding everything, guests who know exactly where to be, and a timeline that works in real life. No decision fatigue, frustration, or last-minute scrambling.
Deluxe planning isn’t about doing more. It’s about removing the noise so you can stay present and focused on the one thing that matters: getting married.
