I’m Becca, Eloping Is Fun’s Planning Guru, and the gal who whips your wedding vision into shape. I take your ideas (no matter how fuzzy or wild) and turn them into a seamless, stress-free day that feels perfectly you. From helping you choose the right location, timeline, and vendors to handling logistics like permits, transport, florals, and ceremony flow, I make sure every detail is handled so you can actually relax and enjoy getting married. Think of me as your personal calm-in-the-chaos and behind-the-scenes magician making it all happen.
Before we dive into how to craft the perfect elopement itinerary, here’s a skim-friendly version of what we’ll be covering:
Experience first, checklist second
Mini-adventures (coffee, pizza, ferry, museum) baked into the flow
Plan A, Plan B, and “Plan A-ish” for weather
Clear guest logistics with maps and meet-points
Permits secured where needed (hello, Central Park privacy)
Minimal schlepping to allow for deeper moments
Built-in buffer time at every transition
A single point of calm (me!) guiding the day
The Secret to an Eloping is Fun Day That Flows (and Photographs) Beautifully
A lot of couples come to me with no idea what their elopement day will actually look like and that’s completely okay. That’s where I come in.
Most people just want the day to feel personal to them. What does that look like? Relaxed, connected, and full of moments that unfold naturally. I help couples turn that feeling into something tangible: a day that moves at your pace, fits your personalities, and captures the essence of your relationship.
Our Eloping Is Funitineraries are designed to flow beautifully. Not like a checklist, but like a day that keeps surprising you in the best ways. The kind of day where everything feels easy, where you’re fully present, and where every detail reflects who you are together.
WE WANT YOUR WEDDING DAY TO FEEL EXCITING, DIFFERENT, AND COMPLETELY YOUR OWN – AN EXPERIENCE TAILOR-MADE FOR YOU AS A COUPLE.
What Is Our “Experience Over Checklist” Timeline Philosophy?
At Eloping Is Fun, we are here to help you live your wedding day, not race through it. Of course, we’ll get iconic backdrops! The New York Public Library, Bethesda Terrace, the Brooklyn Bridge, you name it.
But we also slow things down so you can actually feel the rumble of the subway under your feet, smell the street-cart pretzels, stop to listen to a busker, and taste the city’s best dollar slice – grease, paper plate, and all.
THAT’S THE NYC ELOPEMENT ADVENTURE MAGIC: WHEN THE MOMENT FEELS ALIVE, YOUR PHOTOS WILL ALSO.
When I plan out our itineraries with couples, I ask a lot of questions. Real questions. The kind that get at what actually lights you up.
I want to know:
who you are
what you love
what kind of stories you’ll want to tell about your wedding day years from now
Our itineraries have included all kinds of wild, wonderful stops: grabbing a pint at a dive bar, playing Dance Dance Revolution at a Chinatown arcade, splitting coffee and fries at a classic West Village diner, visiting a dog shelter just to pet every pup in sight, and visiting a secret magic shop in Midtown Manhattan.
We’ve also grabbed vintage photobooth strips in the East Village, shared late-night cannolis in Little Italy, and ended the night popping a bottle of champagne on the waterfront in Brooklyn.
How Do We Pace An NYC Elopement Or Micro-Wedding So You Can Actually Feel It?
I build every timeline around three anchors:
Light: Golden hour and soft interiors are your best friends.
Transit: Distances in NYC are deceptive; we keep moves purposeful and limited.
Buffer: 15 to 20 minutes tucked into every transition gives you freedom to get into the groove.
Our philosophy: linger where it’s beautiful, move with intention, and give each stop time to breathe. This keeps the day grounded and your photos fun.
Our Philosophy of Slow Weddings
Everyone says it: your wedding day goes by in a blur.
But it doesn’t have to.
Our philosophy of Slow Weddings is about doing the opposite of rushing. It’s about breathing it all in and giving yourself the space to actually live your wedding day, not just get through it.
When you slow down, something shifts.
You notice things.
You stop performing and start being.
That’s when the real magic happens. When your smiles aren’t posed, your laughter is real, and your photos capture not just what it looked like, but what it felt like.
We design our timelines with that in mind. We build in time to wander and to be spontaneous because joy doesn’t live on a tight schedule. It shows up when you give it room to breathe.
Slow weddings aren’t about doing less. They’re about feeling more.
What’s The “Why” Behind Each Stop We Choose?
Every couple’s why is different, and that’s exactly what shapes your map:
Sentimental: Maybe it’s your first-date bench in Washington Square. Maybe it’s the block where you finally said “I love you.” Maybe it’s the neighborhood that already feels like your future home.
Aesthetic: Are you going for “Vogue came to play”? Or soft, whimsical florals? Maybe gritty Chinatown neon, or full-color, campy joy? Whatever your vibe, NYC has a corner that matches it.
Practical: This one matters more than people think. We don’t want you to spend your elopement day zigzagging across the city like you’re on an Amazing Race episode. We consider: staying within one or two neighborhoods, walking between locations instead of Uber-hopping, choosing spots that flow naturally from ceremony → portraits → celebration → dinner. Smooth, seamless, zero chaos. More joy in your feet, less time in a car.
Also, the biggest why of all: Why the f*ck did you choose to elope?
Because you wanted fun, ease, and intimacy. We ensure that when we are building your itinerary and timeline.
Pause when you want.
Eat when you’re hungry.
And if it rains, we make it romantic.
What Are The Typical Arcs And How Do They Feel?
1.5 Hours: Short, Sweet, and Very NYC
Perfect for couples who want one meaningful spot + a small adventure before or after. It’s quick, relaxed, and full of those everyday New York moments that make an elopement feel real.
How it feels:
Like slipping into the city for a little slice of magic. No rush, just the two of you soaking up one perfect location.
What this usually looks like:
A single neighborhood
A simple, heartfelt ceremony
Real couples:
Katie & Rob: met Krisanne on the Lower East Side for a pre-ceremony slice before saying their vows in the Secret Garden.
Why it works:
One neighborhood = more connection. It’s intimate, unfussy, and the perfect way to say “we did this our way.”
3 hours: Just Us, Iconic But Easy
For couples who want the essence of NYC.
How it feels:
Light, fun, and unhurried. Like the city is your third wheel. We pick two iconic locations and do it beautifully.
What this usuallylooks like:
1st look in DUMBO in front of the skyline
Subway to Manhattan for a ceremony at the NYPL
Questions I ask you:
Do you want cool, gritty street pics with pizza and sunglasses? Or elegant art at The Met followed by greenery in Central Park? Do you like the city whooshing by in a taxi, or do you want to walk between spots and people-watch?
Real couples:
Lorin & Kenny: mixed classic NYC with portraits at the New York Public Library with a Wagner Cove (Central Park) ceremony, and a modern short-dress + blurry crosswalk moment
Iain & Johnny: went all-in Brooklyn fall textures – cobblestones, murals, waterfront – and a vintage taxi to tie it together (while wearing kilts and tartans!)
Tiny combos that work beautifully:
Magnolia cupcakes + Central Park
NYPL + Grand Central
Pizza slices in DUMBO + waterfront vows
Why it works:
Fewer locations = more candids, more breathing room, more “oh wow… this feels like us.”
5 hours: The “Wait, This Is Actually Perfect” Wedding Day
Time for meaningful stops like your favorite museum, vintage photo booths, classic bookshops, cobblestone side streets, hidden speakeasies, and pockets of the city that feel like a private movie set with space to wander, breathe, and soak it all in.
How it feels:
Like NYC is your personalized playground! With five hours, we get to build a whole rhythm for your day… quiet moments, silly detours, cinematic surprises, and the pockets of the city that feel like only you know about them. One of my favorite parts is bringing in something super niche to your story: a shared obsession, a first-date callback, or that thing the two of you weirdly love.
Real couples:
Danika & Marie: Their day was a full celebration of their shared fandoms – anime bookstore, the Nintendo store, Korean BBQ, and ending the night with karaoke. All in wedding outfits! All very them.
Natalie & James: A rainy NYC day that turned into a cozy food-and-cocktails elopement adventure. Portraits at their hotel (9 Orchard), pizza at Paulie Gee’s, doughnuts at Peter Pan, then cocktails at Twin Lounge. Beautiful mix of indoor vibes and rainy street magic.
Why it works:
You get a meaningful ceremony, iconic wedding portraits, and a mini-adventure that makes the day feel like yours.
7 hours: Epic Adventure With Room To Glow
We can pack a lifetime of memories into this day! Whether you want to explore your favorite neighborhoods, stop for your favorite NYC bites and drinks, or get matching tattoos… With this package, you can take on NYC and leave your mark.
How it feels:
Like a wedding day, minus the chaos. Spacious, grounded, and deeply you.
Real couples:
Nadia & Samuel: They lived in NYC and wanted some amazing photos in Central Park where they had spent so much time together as a couple, then a rooftop ceremony at The Wallace, and a chic dinner at Don Angie.
Lexus & Allison: They spent a beautiful summer day creating their modern NYC fairytale! Vows in the Super Secret Garden, Central Park portraits, upscale catered picnic with their loved ones (dogs included, obviously).
Why it works:
You get time to be present, explore more of the city, and celebrate at your own pace. No rushing, just a beautifully full day.
5–7 Hours: Micro-Weddings
If you’re bringing a handful of loved ones, 5–7 hours gives you the perfect balance: quiet moments as a couple and a small celebration with your favorite people.
The formula that works beautifully:
2–3 hours of portraits in your favorite NYC spots
1–1.5 hours for your ceremony + family photos
1–2 hours celebrating at a restaurant, bar, or private space
You get the romance, the portraits, the group moments, and the cozy celebration… all without the stress of a traditional wedding day.
How Do We Personalize The Timeline To Your “Why” Without Losing The Light?
We start with your story – what you want the day to feel, smell, taste, and sound like – then I reverse-engineer locations to match light windows and realistic moves. Want NYPL elegance and Wagner Cove greenery like Lorin & Kenny? We’ll place them in the best order for light. Prefer one-borough depth like Ian & Johnny? We’ll keep it Brooklyn and maximize textures. Your why decides the map; I make the clock behave.
What Logistics Do We Plan For So The Day Stays Calm?
Transit reality: Subways and rideshares run on “New York time.” We plan fewer moves and pad every hop.
Footwear strategy: Walk in comfy shoes, switch to fancy ones for photos. Your ankles will thank you.
Weather “Plan A-ish”: Umbrellas, covered stoops, hotel lobbies, and interiors we love (so rain turns moody, not messy).
Vendor timing: Photographers, officiants, musicians, vintage taxis – everyone gets precise meet-times, map pins, and a clear order of operations. And because we’ve done this more than 1,000 times, our whole team moves like a well-rehearsed crew. We’re constantly in communication, adjusting timing, shifting locations if needed, and keeping the day flowing so you never have to think about logistics.
Accessibility: Elder guests, strollers, and mobility needs shape our route and ceremony spot.
How Do We Handle Guests, Kids, And Accessibility Without Stress?
We love when you can bring your kids and family along for part (or all) of the adventure, part of it, or just the ceremony. We have amazing nannies and day-of coordinators who can help entertain your kiddos while you have some intimate time with your partner during the photos or ceremony. If you’re bringing along an infant or toddler, we recommend hiring the babysitter for the entire shoot to keep them safe and happy.
Your guests are a huge part of your day! We give them an excellent step by step itinerary link, including timelines and Google Maps links for where they need to be and when. It’s important to remind them that this is an elopement, and we are getting married in the middle of a huge city with lots of people and hustle and bustle! Unless you’re confined to a restaurant’s private room, be ready to embrace the city like the unpredictable beast that it is.
Pro tip:
Go explore the park the morning of the ceremony if you’re staying nearby so you can see what it looks like. Dress appropriately to be outside by the water in December! Remind your guests of your “why” and ask them to join you in your unconventional fabulousness.
Do You Really Need Permits, And What Changes With Weather?
Short answer: often, yes. Permits are your “private bubble” in a public city, especially in Central Park and now certain DUMBO areas. They’re affordable in the park and worth it on the waterfront. For weather hiccups, we craft a flexible route: a chic hotel suite, The Met galleries, covered terraces, or our favorite indoor lofts. We don’t lose momentum… we redirect it.
How Do We Build In Play, Snacks, And Mini-Adventures?
We make the city part of the celebration. NYC is the best place in the world for food and drinks — from donuts to fancy cocktails, dollar slices to vintage cakes. Your elopement day will be full of adrenaline (and a little tiring), so we don’t forget to carve out time to eat! Especially if you’re someone who gets hangry, consider those snack breaks part of the adventure.
We’ve had couples turn their favorite bites into unforgettable moments: one pair who loved a good diner breakfast headed straight to the iconic Golden Diner for a full spread of pancakes (and yes, they shared a pickle Lady and the Tramp–style). Patricia and Brandon were die-hard Los Tacos fans, so naturally, tacos made the guest list for their big day.
Iconic pause points: Soho Diner milkshakes, Joe’s Pizza slices, Golden Diner pancakes, Los Tacos victory bites, bodega coffee between portraits.
Why I care: Blood sugar = mood. Mood = photos. A five-minute pastry stop often becomes your favorite candids of the day.

What Should You Do (And Not Do) When Planning Your Timeline?
Do:
Pick fewer locations you love and let them breathe
Build snack and bathroom breaks into the plan
Share your “why” and any sentimental stops up front
Trust the light windows (your photos will thank you)
Keep your shoes practical for walking time
Don’t:
Stack five neighborhoods in three hours
Assume Google Maps time equals wedding-day time
Skip permits where they matter
Forget that rain can be romantic with a plan
Invite guests without clear meet-points and expectations
How Much Buffer Time Do You Really Need (And Where)?
I add 15-20 minutes into every transition (leaving a hotel, arriving to ceremony, moving between portrait zones). For cross-borough rides or rush hour, we add 20–30 minutes. It feels luxurious on the day and turns “uh-oh” into “no biggie.”
Steal These “Becca Rules” As A Quick Checklist:
Choose depth over distance
Protect golden hour
Add a snack stop
Permit the meaningful spots
Have Plan A-ish for weather
Keep guests informed
Wear walkable shoes
Let the city surprise you
Wait, What Exactly Is Golden Hour? (And Blue Hour?)
Golden hour is that warm, glowy light you see in all the photos you save on Pinterest. The sun is low, everything looks soft, romantic, and slightly cinematic. It’s the chef’s kiss of lighting, and we structure your timeline to protect it like treasure. This is when your skin looks incredible, your photos feel dreamy, and NYC looks like a movie set.
Right after golden hour comes blue hour. It’s the cool, moody, deep-blue glow right before the city lights fully kick in. It’s quieter, softer, and gives your photos that elevated editorial look. Picture: skyline silhouettes, streetlights turning on, and the city starting to sparkle.
We plan for both so your photos have depth, dimension, and a whole story of light – not just one flat look.
What’s The Next Step If You Want A Timeline You’re Obsessed With?
If your shoulders dropped a full inch reading this, that’s your sign. Tell me your why and I’ll build the calm, cinematic, snack-fueled timeline that lets you actually live your day (and get those jaw-drop photos without the sprint).
